Leeds United ace Jack Clarke has revealed he turned down advances from Manchester City to stay at Elland Road, in comments made to The Mirror.
What’s the word?
Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival in the summer has sparked increased optimism around Leeds’ push for promotion to the Premier League, with the early-season form of the Peacocks establishing the side amongst the favourites for promotion.
The excelling side continue to hand opportunities to young talents and the latest example of that is versatile forward Jack Clarke, with the 17-year-old coming off the bench to catch the eye in the draw with Brentford.
Having risen through the U18 and U23 ranks at Elland Road, Clarke signed his first professional contract with Leeds on his 17th birthday last November and has revealed to The Mirror he rejected an approach from Manchester City.
What was said?
“I wouldn’t want to leave when I’ve got everything I want here.”
A new homegrown hero?
An exciting teenage talent breaking into the first-team at Elland Road is always a good sign given the club’s strong record of developing future England international’s and Jack Clarke could enjoy a similar rise, although he faces a huge battle ahead.

The young attacker faces competition with Tyler Roberts and Kemar Roofe for regular action at the club, while Patrick Bamford also presents another hurdle to overcome when he returns from a long-term injury layoff.
Clarke’s comments show he has the maturity to succeed though and further opportunities could be right around the corner if he continues to shine, though his focus should now be on ensuring he remains consistent behind the scenes.
